St Ives House care home has welcomed a new Head Chef who brings nearly 20 years of culinary experience.

Before joining the Care South care home near Ringwood, 42-year-old Patrick Fensterseifer had cooked in a number of restaurants and hotels, but brings specialised skills suited to care home cuisine.

He added: “I am passionate about preparing meals that are flavoursome, nutritious, well-presented and meet the specific dietary requirements of every resident.”

Patrick uses fresh, locally sourced ingredients at the care home to ensure dishes are as nutrition-rich as possible. He is also a member of the National Association of Care Catering, which ensures the team are continually learning, creating new recipes and evolving the catering offering at St Ives House.

He said: “We are so passionate about going the extra mile to put a smile on our residents’ faces. Meal times are treated with great importance, everyone has individual needs and we take the time to get to know what each resident likes and does not like.

“I enjoy cooking both savoury and sweet dishes; however I take great pride in preparing birthday cakes for our residents.

“For anyone planning to become a care chef I would say that this is a fulfilling career and providing the elderly with nutritional and appetising meals will give you great joy and job satisfaction.”
