Ignoring the normal summer quiet period in the sector, this week DeChoker completed the deployment and training for The Royal Star & Garter at their new home in High Wycombe.
Established in 1916 to provide care for ex-Service people returning from the First World War, today The Royal Star & Garter provide specialist nursing, dementia and therapeutic care at their 3 homes.
DeChoker devices can now be found on every floor of their homes including Solihull and Surbiton, in addition to another device for each their minibuses. Residents enjoy regular trips to the seaside, shopping and even the Hippodrome which always involve some element of packed lunch or eating out and it is worth remembering that choking incidents can happen just as easily whilst away from the home.
Commenting on the news, Matt Oakley. CEO of Dechoker UK said; “We are pleased to welcome The Royal Star & Garter as a new client and look forward to supporting them in the future to further help protect both their staff and residents.”
Providing the airway can be cleared quickly enough, choking is 100% survivable. With new care home choking death figures due to be published next month, it is hoped the nearly 40 lives saved in the last 18 months with DeChoker have made a great impact.
