NCF partners Cohesion held a Digitalising Care Recruitment event alongside Professor Stephen Woods from the University of Liverpool Management School. Steve outlined the growth of a range of digital selection procedures, and explored how they can be used in the recruitment process. Cohesion’s Will Shepherd and Dave Beesley then discussed online psychometric tool Care Character and shared some results seen since the tool’s recent launch. Care Character is a new psychometric tool specifically designed for the care sector based on insights from PhD research sponsored by Cohesion Recruitment. The test takes 7 minutes to complete and produces a hiring manager report, a candidate report and a report for those being cared for and their families.

The tool supports Values Based Recruitment and boosts candidate engagement. Surveyed candidates were very positive about the use of Care Character in the recruitment process; 92% found the assessment easy to complete and 88% felt the survey accurately described their behaviours. Candidates who take the assessment when invited to do so ahead of interview are three times more likely to show up at interview than those who didn’t complete the test.
