Nightingale House

The past year has been a very rewarding one for everyone associated with Nightingale Hammerson, as it has seen Nightingale House awarded an overall Outstanding rating thanks to the hard work of our very talented staff, volunteers and trustees, who are the heart of our organisation. The fact that our residents and their families consider our home to be “outstanding” reiterates our upgraded rating and, we believe, is our most important achievement.

The culture of our home is key to our success. Inspectors praised our on-site nursery – the UK’s first in a care home – which adds an intergenerational dimension to our already diverse offering of activities and events. Warmth, respect and compassion lie at the heart of the Nightingale Hammerson philosophy, so having relatives feed back that our staff “care and are empathetic” shows that we are justifiably proud to have created a supportive home for our residents, where each of their individual needs is prioritised.

Beyond our intergenerational engagement, our in-house music and art engagement programmes are particularly impactful for residents living with dementia, and our tailored bespoke care plans for each and every resident helps us to support our residents to live an active fulfilling life in a home environment.

At Nightingale Hammerson, we’re happy to lead by example – both internally, where senior managers pioneer extracurricular volunteering with residents, and externally, with our intergenerational research to share the benefits of intergenerational interaction with the wider care sector.
