Nicola is currently a consultant working in the fields of social care, charities and leadership coaching.
Since leaving full time work in the summer of 2023 Nicola has been working on the Department of Health and Social Care/SESCA/ADASS International Recruitment of Care Workers Project, supporting provider development, developing a CYP counselling service as a social enterprise and examining the feasibility of franchising a for-profit bakery as a community social enterprise.
Nicola is a Mentor on the Government Help to Grow Programme and a trained consultant peer assessor for ADASS for the upcoming CQC inspections of Local Authorities in England.
Prior to this Nicola was the Group CEO of the YOU Trust, a large social care provider and Managing Director of My Learning Cloud Ltd, a provider of online learning for the social care sector. Nicola has 27 years’ experience as a CEO working with local authorities, Her extensive experience covers learning disability and mental health services, social prescribing, social welfare advice, community prevention work, working with unpaid carers, counselling services and domestic abuse work.
She also has strong commercial experience as the MD of a software house.
Nicola has a good understanding of the Care Act 2014 and has worked with CQC and its predecessor operating both CQC registered care homes, domiciliary care and supported living services, all of which were rated “Good.
