… setting the stage for the Future of Social Care and Support

On 5 June 2019 NCF brought together the NCF membership, sector leaders, sector suppliers and supporters from across the country. At our annual conference, Shaping the Future of Great Care, it was clear that there was a huge appetite and growing evidence base for changing the way in which services are developed and delivered to ensure they are ready for the communities and commissioners of the future. Speakers focussing on Asset Based Community Development, panels on the needs of BME, LGBT populations, workshops addressing social prescribing and much much more filled a day where delegates shared, inspired, learned and networked with each other.

In addition to the broader programme, we were delighted to celebrate the beginning of our third NCF Rising Stars programme. This programme has grown from strength to strength and it was a real privilege to meet the new cohort of NCF Rising Stars for the first time at the annual conference.

Our thanks go out to all our partners who engage with this programme throughout the year, but particular thanks to Carterwood for supporting the NCF Rising Stars attendance at the conference and to apetito for providing the pop up restaurant at the conference to bring together the Rising Stars and their mentors for the first time.

We were also pleased to bring together our new Governance Forum, and we will be in contact with Trustees and Non Exec Directors in the near future to expand on ideas and agendas shared by delegates at the conference.

“I wanted to congratulate you on a great conference – I attend a number of events in different sectors and your conference was really refreshing, collaborative and inspiring”

Isla Wilson, Chair, Borough Care

“I genuinely think that this was the best annual conference I have attended, not purely due to location, organisation, speakers etc, but just the whole feel, I get a very strong sense that the industry is fully opening its mind to innovation and experimentation, which in turn makes people interested in what suppliers such as ourselves are doing, and affords us the opportunity to help drive the sector forward.”

Bruce Adams, Altura Learning (NCF Annual Partner)

“Everyone I spoke to was so positive about the whole conference – it was spot on and captured perfectly the challenges but also the positivity and innovation across the sector.”

Maxine Espley, Executive Director of Health, Social Care and Support, Accord Housing Association

PANEL DISCUSSION – Future of Care – Changing Communities

The care sector is changing to meet future needs but there is much more work to do to ensure that it addresses the needs of all communities. The panel discussion will explore wider community needs, to enable delegates to explore how their organisations can be part of that future.
