Who We Are
The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) was established in 1991 as a not for profit charitable trust. Our charitable aims are underpinned by the Christian principles and ethos of our two sponsoring organisations, The Sovereign & Military Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem, Rhodes & Malta and The Most Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem, both of which have a long and distinguished history in the care of the sick, elderly and infirm. OSJCT is committed to providing high quality, person centred care for older people from all sections of the community, irrespective of race or religion.

In 1992, OSJCT took on responsibility for running 16 of Lincolnshire County Council’s care homes for older people. Since then, OSJCT has expanded its reach through contracts with Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire County Councils, a merger with The Fremantle Trust and the acquisition of Elmfield Care. The Trust now provides services across more than 70 locations in Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Lincolnshire, Suffolk, West Sussex and Wiltshire. We care for more than 4,000 residents and clients and employ over 6,000 staff.

OSJCT is committed to delivering high quality, person centred care. Our wide range of care services includes residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, day care, intermediate and respite care, extra care housing and learning disabilities services.

Commitment to Quality
Quality care is at the heart of everything we do. Our care is delivered with dignity, compassion and respect for the individual. We aim to ensure that everyone for whom we care has the opportunity and information they need to make informed decisions about the care they receive from us, whatever their level of need.

All our staff are trained to plan care around an individual’s strengths rather than their weaknesses. Their professional training extends beyond statutory requirements and includes our Dementia UK accredited specialist dementia care training. We also strive to develop and maintain active dialogues with clinical and academic experts to ensure that we remain at the leading edge of care delivery. To help our colleagues to focus on caring for residents, we are fortunate to have a growing body of volunteers who are able to provide added companionship for our residents as well as assist with activities, fund-raising events, community engagement etc.

We are equally committed to ensuring that our residents and teams are able to live and work in a modern environment and can benefit from the latest care aids and technology. This is taken into consideration within our development programme across the Trust. In addition, OSJCT endeavours to work in partnership with local authorities and other stakeholders so that we can monitor and adapt our care services to provide, as far as possible, what people really want and need.
