We began as an independent charity in 1996 in response to the Local Authority’s provision of services for older people. Over the years, we’ve built on these firm foundations, growing steadily to meet the changing needs of older people and other vulnerable adults we care for. This forward-thinking approach led to us being recognised by a National Training Award in 2005 when we broadened our range of services to offer accredited dementia care.
Today, nine of our sixteen care homes provide nursing care and our domiciliary team has developed to give help and support to people in their own homes across the whole of the county.
In 2012 our trustees identified the increasingly complex approaches to providing the very best care and again, we adapted to meet these new challenges. Setting up the subsidiary company, Cornwall Care Service Ltd, allowed us to concentrate solely on delivering care, leaving the trustees to focus on charitable aims. This new company operates within the guidelines of the Charity Board, enabling us to keep the surplus within the charity where it’s needed most.
Although we’ve grown substantially over the years, our objectives have remained the same as they were in 1996 – to use the latest facilities and practices, to provide the highest quality care available for every individual.
