We are a renowned provider of high quality housing, care and support for older people in the South West. For over 75 years, Brunelcare have been at the forefront of developing ways for people to stay as independent as possible, creating great communities to live, work and enjoy being in. We are widely recognised for our expertise and excellence in caring for people living with a dementia.
Brunelcare is a Registered (Not-for-Profit) Charity (201555) and Housing Association based in Bristol. We also operate within South Gloucestershire, North and South Somerset – providing a unique range of services. Established in 1941, Brunelcare’s origins stem from the aftermath of the Second World War which left Bristol’s older generation unequipped to cope. Brunelcare pioneered the meals on wheels service in Bristol and our priority in supporting Bristol’s older people was to ‘keep them warm, keep them fed, keep them alive’.
In 2007, Dementia Care Trust merged with Brunelcare to expand expertise and services for people living with a dementia.
We now operate 4 care homes (with a fifth in development), 1000 sheltered housing units across 30 sites, 3 extra care housing sites, 1 retirement village and we deliver home support and care to over 3000 individuals and their families and friends. In addition, Brunelcare run 3 day care centres, one Reablement Centre and a high-street community services hub office in Bristol.
With no less than 1200 staff and over 100 volunteers, our person-centred care approach focuses on meeting the needs of the individual, helping people make the most of their lives. Brunelcare recognises that our staff are our most valuable resource and we invest heavily in training, to enable staff to carry out their jobs to a high standard. All of which has been recognised over the years in national awards and audit reports.
Working with local authorities, other housing and care providers, specialists and lead regulators, in line with government guidelines, we work tirelessly to assist with meeting local demand and to contribute to best practice approaches within the care and housing sectors.
