Trident Group: New Chair announced

Trident Group today confirmed the appointment of a new Chair of the Board.

Brian Carr was confirmed as the new Chair of the Board following the Group’s AGM last night, Monday, 26 September 2022.

Outgoing Chair, Colin Small said:

“As a Brummie lad ending my housing career here has made me incredibly proud and happy. I am really proud of Trident Group and that it is still continuing to present itself as a ‘Beacon of Hope’ to the very many people who need help.

The new chair, Brian and the rest of the team will continue to ensure Trident is a high performing organisation helping the most vulnerable.” He and they will do a great job.”

John Morris, Trident Group’s Chief Executive said:  “I welcome the board’s appointment of Brian Carr as the new Chair and look forward to working with both Brian and the board to continue Trident Group’s important work into our 60th year and beyond.”

Brian has been Chief Executive of Birmingham Voluntary Service Council since 2005. He joined the organisation after training as a personnel manager with Marks and Spencer plc, and time spent setting up and leading a Legal Aid service as managing director of a local Citizens Advice Bureau.

His current role involves strategically leading BVSC in the full range of its activities, which focus on providing advocacy and development support to charities, community groups, and volunteers, and supporting the public and private sectors to better engage with the local voluntary sector.

His experience in the voluntary sector and working with local partners will be a great asset to Trident Group as it continues to be a Beacon of Hope to customers across the Midlands.

Trident Board’s retiring chair Colin Small was appointed to the board in 2015, and then became Senior Independent Director (SID) in December 2016 and then became Group Chair in 2019.
