Tractor Boys glad to care!

“Having a place where we belong” – an element of the 7 Keys to Citizenship

This week is #GladtoCare week – and as a social care based charity it’s core to what we do.

One of our big success stories over the past three years has been Learning2Live in Windermere (combining care & learning). Our first cohort will graduate this summer.

Life’s a ‘Beach’!

One of the young adults we have seen progress a lot is Jordan Beach. A long with his learning & life skills he has gained with us – he’s also been active in his community (an essential part of the 7 Keys to Citizenship which Oaklea extols -see below)

Lune Gorgeous

This weekend he was involved in planning a community led Charity Tractor Run. A host of new & vintage tractors set off from the old railway sidings in Tebay, went round the Howgill Fells and up into Upper Eden before heading back to Tebay.

Poetry in Motion – We got Traction!

Enjoy some of the many tractors that took part as they head down the Lune Gorge and along the Howgill Fells to Sedbergh.

We borrow from a famous poem…

“There’s some corner of a (foreign) field. That is for ever England.” Rupert Brooke

Caring about what we do

You thought the ‘Tractor Boys’ was a ref to Ipswich Town FC – Well not always the case! Here you can see a different team we promote (!) – Jordan, with Dad and Forestry Engineer, Mark, with our webmaster, Simon.

Over the past few weeks Jordan has also been popping into Oaklea HQ to work on a ‘top secret’ project with Simon (and Kevin, Job Coach from L2L) – using and building on his excellent digital/ICT skills. You can also see him taking the lead on last week’s #WearitGreen for mental health awareness week!

Glad to care for our flock

If that wasn’t enough – At the start of the weekend Jordan was with L2L Support Rachel…already getting in the farming vibe! Baa – I prefer 4 wheels says J!

Find out more about #GladtoCare week here https://gladtocare.com/ -a week dedicated to “paying tribute to highlight and appreciate the dedication of care workers. Its purpose is to express gratitude for the exceptional effort’s carers invest in the lives of care recipients.”  The Care Workers Charity

Plus all of our work – with Jordan and many many others we support across the North is built around the 7 Keys to Citizenship
