Residents and staff at Dene Holm Residential Care Home in Northfleet kindly received some Christmas gifts, courtesy of a giving tree set up by the local Morrisons store.

Kindness and generosity amongst our communities has been one of the better things to come from the situation this year and that has certainly been evident this year at Dene Holm Residential Care Home, where a nearby supermarket has been spreading festive joy.

The Morrisons store in Coldharbour Road set up a giving tree in store a few weeks ago, inviting shoppers to buy Christmas gifts for residents of the care home, provided with just a name and age to guide their choice.

A representative of the store, Chris Bradford, who regularly drops off flowers to the residents for their activities, visited last week armed with several large bags of gifts for the residents. But the kindness didn’t stop there, as Chris also delivered a number of boxes of biscuits for the staff too.

Lea-Ann Shaw, Activity Coordinator at Dene Holm said: “We were absolutely overwhelmed when Chris arrived with so many bags of gifts for our residents, the number of shoppers who must have got involved was outstanding and we were certainly not expecting so many!

The kindness and generosity of Chris and his team has meant a lot to us this year, at a time when we are all working very hard to keep our residents safe and happy, it’s lovely to know they are thinking of us.”
