Saying goodbye to a legend

“His favourite saying was always “I’ll sort it out” Lisa Fulton, House Manager

It’s been an emotional few days at Oaklea in Furness – one of our longest standing customers has moved on after an incredible THREE DECADES with us! Peter from Barrow…..and here’s some of the lovely images & memories shared by our social care team from his home in the town.

Peter’s big love – Pie & Chips!

Wots not to like says Team/House Manager Lisa Fulton “He loved a pie and chips!”

“In his younger years he loved getting the bus up town every week to go for coffee. He was always very sociable and loved to be centre of attention on the dancefloor.” adds Lisa

Over riding impression -he got things sorted!

The team that was around him in Barrow say his favourite saying was always “I’ll sort it out”

He had an ‘eye’ for the ‘chicks’ too!

You’d never guess – Staff say he had his cheeky moments too – we can tell (!). A trip to the set of Emmerdale has gone down in Oaklea Furness folklore….but sadly we can’t say or we will get in trouble with Lisa!

A goodbye gift for me?

Unwrapping some goodbye presents and some more images of Peter making the most of life with his friends.

“Just act natural you say?” – sorted!

Model housemate! Peter of course has been a familiar face at our house in Barrow and throughout Oaklea – back in 2018 he and his friends featured in a promotional brochure:

“Love it here as I’ve made really good friends – me and Geoffrey have known each other for about 25 years now! I also like the fact my family can visit anytime.” (speaking in 2018)

Lets get the leaving party started says Peter – oh you have!

Hats off to a top top lovely fella from all of us here at Oaklea!
