A proud nurse from a Sanctuary Care home in Colne is over the moon after receiving a prestigious national nursing accolade. Faith Adetula, who has been a nurse at Peel Gardens Residential and Nursing Home for five years, was delighted to receive the Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care Silver Award, for her achievements in professional development.
The award was presented at a celebratory event recently, with Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care, Deborah Sturdy personally congratulating Faith via a video call.
Following the celebration Faith said: “It is really a great honour to feel seen and recognised in this way, and I am so grateful to Sanctuary Care for nominating me.”
Earlier this year Faith became not-for-profit provider’s first registered nursing home nurse to become a Non-Medical Prescriber, something which is truly pioneering in care home nursing.
She successfully completed the Non-Medical Prescribing programme, supported and funded by Sanctuary Care, following one of the organisation’s new development pathways, at the University of Central Lancashire.
This achievement means she is now registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council as a non-medical prescriber, enabling her to independently prescribe medication for residents – a level of clinical autonomy rarely seen in social care settings and a significant advancement for the sector.
Reflecting on her journey, Faith added: “It is an honour to be part of a team that truly values professional growth and clinical excellence. This training and the support around it have shown me that care home nurses are not only capable of advanced practice, we are essential to the future of social care nursing. I’m proud to be part of this evolution, and proud to work at Peel Gardens, where nurses are encouraged to lead, learn, and make a lasting difference.
“I am as well grateful to Sanctuary Care for the encouragement and investment in my development. This is just the beginning of the next stage in my clinical journey.”

Not stopping there, next month Faith will start her MSc Advanced Practice Apprenticeship, fully funded by Sanctuary Care. On completion, she will be among Sanctuary Care’s first nurses progressing toward advanced clinical practice roles under this pathway.
Faith’s achievement forms part of Sanctuary Care’s wider clinical strategy, enabling nurses to work at the top of their profession, enhancing resident outcomes, and setting new standards for the sector.
