Local School Delivers Kindness to Care Home Residents

Pupils of Rainham Academy delivered some festive joy to the residents of Rogers House Residential Care Home this week, when they stopped by for a surprise seasonal visit.

Christmas spirit was definitely in the air at the Wigmore care home on Tuesday 14th December, when the local school children arrived with several sacks of gifts.  The children brought with them a wrapped gift for every single resident, delivering some much-needed Christmas cheer amidst this time of uncertainty.

The school children kept a safe distance from the residents during the visit and even sang some Christmas Carols, as the residents watched from the dining room.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed the visit from the children and the singing was a particular highlight, as they have missed their contact with the community over the past two years.

Jackie Miles, Home Manager of Rogers House said: “It was very kind of the pupils of Rainham Academy to think of us at this time of year and the gifts are a really lovely gesture. We’ve missed having children come in and see us so their visit really brightened up the residents’ day.”
