Jubilee Weekend is a Right Royal Treat for Northfleet Care Home Residents

Residents of Dene Holm Residential Care Home in Northfleet enjoyed a bumper weekend of celebrations, in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The long Bank Holiday weekend was jam-packed with Jubilee jubilation, as the residents and their guests toasted the Queen and her 70 years on the throne. Waving their flags and wearing red, white and blue corsages, the partygoers were thrilled to fly their flags and comemmorate the world’s third longest reigning Monarch.

The celebrations kicked off with a traditional fish and chip supper, courtesy of Northfleet Fish Bar, whilst the residents watched the television coverage and raised a glass of fizz to her Majesty.

Family and friends were invited to join the home’s street party on Sunday, which included an afternoon tea, music from the 1950s and plenty of dancing, even incorporating a Conga around the dining room.

Justyna Pochowska, Activity Coordinator at Dene Holm said: “The Jubilee weekend was a real celebration for all of us but for our residents in particular, as many of them can remember where they were and what they were doing during the Queen’s coronation back in 1953, so they were thrilled to be able to mark the milestone together.

“It was wonderful to have friends and family join us for the occasion too, following such a long time of limited visits. It truly was an incredibly special weekend of making lots of memories with one another.”
