“How do you follow that” – High praise indeed!

“It’s simply amazing that the video was shown in front of such important people.” Mum, Rebecca

Not all heroes wear capes

Do you recall in the summer we uncovered a fabulous young man who talked up our young people’s activities? We’re talking about Jacob! This summer marked our first venture into day activities as part of our HAF (Holidays Activities & Food) offer -and we captured Jacob at BrockholeLake District Visitor CentreWindermere

National attention secured thanks to Jacob!

Well Jacob has garnered national attention for Oaklea and our #HAF programme (delivered across the ChristmasEaster & Summer Holidays for eligible young people).

Are they talking about me….? Yes……It was for this video…

Celebrating what we do…

To big up #HAF2023 across England we were included in a national DfE (Department for Education) celebration this month. This was attended by Junior Ministers and various big wigs from the DfE. Guess who became the main attraction – our very own Jacob – thanks to the above video! He not only featured – he was the grand finale –

When the presentation finished – the Deputy Director at DfE, Emily Whitehead said “How do you follow that – it was amazing.”

Jacob was in good company..

“The event was presided over by Minister David JohnstonParliamentary Under Secretary of State and Minister for Children, Families and Wellbeing and Susan Acland-HoodPermanent Secretary. They both spoke about the importance of HAF, and the fantastic videos really demonstrated the impact of the programme.” Nicky WarnockThe Childcare Works HAF Team.

Mum knows best…

We caught up with his mum, Rebecca, as she was about to pick him up from school today:

“Absolutely chuffed to bits. Seeing his face on the video -the way he’s beamed and come alive on film. It was so lovely to see him shining through. He keeps asking when the next trips will be. It’s simply amazing that the video was shown in front of such important people.”

We love feedback -in fact we’re bowled over..

“This feedback from the young people, carers and DfE and partners is lovely and we really appreciate the recognition. It’s testament to the efforts from the CYP Team in what was a very busy and packed summer programme.” Matthew ‘Mr Matty’ Douglas, Team Manager, CYP Team
