This week, a heartfelt charity single, “Cowboy Jack” by Daz Sims, has been released to support a very special cause in the hopes of raising money for life-prolonging treatment for five-year-old Jack from Somerset.

Brunelcare’s Community Care Team, based in Somerset, have come together to support one of their colleagues whose 5-year-old son, Jack Gyde, has been diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma.
The care team at Brunelcare have been donating funds to ‘Jack’s Journey’ to raise money for Jack to receive life-prolonging treatment in America. Jack’s GoFundMe page, set up by his mother, Sarah, has already raised an impressive £144,000, bringing Jack closer to the £250,000 needed for his treatment.
Sarah, a Community Carer at Brunelcare for over a decade, along with her mother-in-law, Tracy, who has been with the charity for more than 20 years, expressed immense gratitude for the support and funds contributed by Brunelcare colleagues during Sarah’s hospital stays with Jack.
“Cowboy Jack” made an impressive debut, reaching #28 on the iTunes chart. However, without additional press and publicity, it is now slipping. Your support is critical to turning this around and giving us the boost we need in the final four days.
Sarah shared their journey: “It was the middle of January 2024 when I noticed Jack limping. After several doctor visits and an eventual trip to A&E, tests revealed a tumour above his right kidney. On February 15th, Jack was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma. We were devastated.”
Jack is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, with surgery and a stem cell transplant planned. If Jack’s NHS treatment is successful, he has a 40-50% chance of survival. However, if he relapses, his chances drop to just 5%. The funds raised will support additional maintenance treatment in the US to reduce the risk of relapse and improve his chances of survival.

Sarah praised her team at Brunelcare: “The support from my team has been incredible. My job security and their understanding of my situation have been a tremendous relief. I still work when I can, but knowing they are behind me makes all the difference.”

Jack said: “I hope I get well soon. I miss going to school and playing with my friends.”
