Residents and staff at The Ridings Extra Care Scheme in Swindon, which is run by Guinness Care, celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee by inviting family members to join them at their Jubilee party.
On 6 February 2022, Her Majesty the Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. To celebrate this anniversary Guinness funded the Platinum Jubilee celebration at the Extra Care Scheme to help bring everyone together and make it a truly special occasion.
Around 40 people attended a day of celebrations which in the morning included a royal family quiz and a pearly king and queen competition.
Bernadette Shorter, Extra Care Scheme Manager from Guinness Care said: “We had a fantastic day, there was lots of laughter and everyone had fun celebrating the Jubilee.”
Resident, Peggy Willis said: “I had such a lovely day with my friends and the Guinness staff did a brilliant job organising it all, thank you.”
The Ridings Extra Care Scheme consists of one bedroom apartments built around communal facilities, designed so that residents have places to meet up, chat and socialise.
