Emma Warren, Sanctuary Supported Living’s Area Service Manager for Suffolk and Essex, has shared a video of her experience of getting the Covid-19 vaccination.

Emma’s area management covers several supported housing and nursing homes for people with learning or physical disabilities and mental health needs, including three services rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). She decided to record her experience of receiving her first Covid vaccination, to provide insight and clarity for frontline staff and residents who are due to receive theirs in the near future.

The video starts with Emma’s arrival at her local hospital and explains the process of registering and preparing for having the vaccination – in her case, the Pfizer vaccine. Emma also recorded an update the following day, explaining that, aside from a slightly sore arm, she had no side-effects and felt completely fine.

Emma said, “I know a lot of people are understandably worried about the process and what to expect when they go for their jab. I’m hoping that my short video will provide the reassurance that they need, so that they can feel more confident about getting the vaccination themselves. If it helps even one person feel better about having it, then I’ll feel like I’ve made a difference. I’m looking forward to getting my second jab and being even more protected – it feels like there’s some light at the end of the tunnel!”
