Charities launch new website to support veterans’ care

A new website, veteranfriendlyframework.org.uk, which will support care homes in achieving Veteran Friendly Framework status, has been launched.

The Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) project launched in October 2023. It aims to tackle loneliness and isolation, and deliver improved health and wellbeing outcomes, for over 25,000 veterans living in care homes across England. It will provide care homes with resources to assess and improve their offer.

Now the new, bespoke website will provide care home managers with insight into the project and, once signed up, access to all of the resources and tips they will need to successfully complete VFF status.

Kathryn Glass, VFF Project Lead, said: “Having access to information and resources on the VFF website will support care homes to embark on the pathway to achieve Veteran Friendly Framework status. It will enable them to understand the Framework, then undertake the journey with confidence, safe in the knowledge that the support they need is there and accessible on the website.”

The VFF is a two-year collaboration between Armed Forces charities Royal Star & Garter, the Royal British Legion and the NHS Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA – an NHS flagship Armed Forces programme), with funding support from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.

Any care homes interested in receiving more information about the VFF can visit veteranfriendlyframework.org.uk
