Camping with care

This week we are marking #GladtoCare with some great examples of how our employees in social care show this through those they support.

“Glad to Care is an awareness week that stands as a tribute to highlight and appreciate the dedication of care workers. Its purpose is to express gratitude for the exceptional effort’s carers invest in the lives of care recipients.”

Care to camp Leon? – sure do!

Heading to camp….find a suitable site to rest! Wood you believe it!

Oaklea’s Claire Deveraux-West and Leon went camping close to Muncaster Castle on the western fringes of the Lake District. A good example of making sure those we support get the opportunities to do stuff and live the lives as they see fit – enabled by people like Claire!

“We went to the Castle, had a coffee and some lunch and watched the dog show. Then had a walk around the Castle gardens. It was then time to set up the tents. Leon was very happy he had a green tent. We had a little rest in the sunshine before heading to a nearby pub for dinner.” Claire D-W

Leon has a head for this camping lark!

“After a good night’s sleep. I made breakfast and then we packed the tents away. We then went to Ravenglass for the L’aal Ratty miniature railway and had a great ride on the old trains.”

Now departing – for another support & beverage!

Claire swaps Leon for Steve! (is he the GOAT*?)

Down on the farm with added bounce

Meanwhile if camping wasn’t enough for Claire – she also went with Steve to Greenlands Farm near Carnforth.

*GOAT – as in Greatest of all time? No all those we support come under this category!

“Steve was able to feed a big rabbit and get very close to an owl. It was a little bit chilly so we had a coffee by the fire in the cafe to warm up! We then went to Bowness for more coffee and had a boat trip on Windermere!” Claire

GladtoShare my ice cream!

Meanwhile did you say Windermere? Finally as if to emphasise the important role our Support Teams play – how about this for a joyous set of images! This is Beth from Learning2Live in Windermere with support Rachel – making the most of the sunny weather – and why not – caring for each other takes on many forms – not least having a good laugh!
