Winchester-based charity, The Brendoncare Foundation, is pleased to announce that Lesley Marshall, Acting Deputy Manager, at Brendoncare Froxfield has nominated as a finalist for the Best Dementia Carer Award category within the National Dementia Care Awards.

The National Dementia Care Awards are an annual event created to recognise the very best people working in the dementia care sector across 16 categories with four or five finalists in each category. Lesley will meet two independent judges on 11 October in London.

Winners of the National Dementia Care Awards will be presented with their trophies at a Gala evening held on Thursday 7th November at Doncaster Racecourse.

Lesley Marshall is the Acting Deputy Manager at Brendoncare Froxfield and has been in this role for the past nine months. She started working at Brendoncare five years ago as a Care Assistant and then progressed to Senior Care Assistant.

Brendoncare Froxfield, near Marlborough, is a care home providing nursing care for 44 residents, including a safe environment for 11 people living with dementia. Older people living at Brendoncare Froxfield are helped to live as independently as possible, with the emphasis very much on quality and enjoyment of life.

Carole Sawyers, Brendoncare’s Chief Executive, said “We are delighted that Lesley has been shortlisted for this award. She is truly deserving of this nomination; she is a dedicated and hardworking individual and is continuously learning and developing herself in order to provide the best care possible for residents of Brendoncare Froxfield.”

Lesley is married with a son and daughter. She is very family orientated and loves her dogs and cats. She also enjoys sitting in her hot tub in the garden. Even on her days off, Lesley can often be found at Brendoncare Froxfield, joining in with the home’s activities or helping to clean out store cupboards.
