At the heart of what we do!

“Busy people find the time….” Philip Smith MBE, Oaklea Trustee

This week is National Trustee Week – and to celebrate our volunteer Trustees & Board members here at Oaklea Trust & Right2Work CIC we’ve caught a few of them at our AGM! Being a Trustee opens doors for others….

Heart of what we do….that’s being a Trustee!

It’s pretty straightforward why people become Trustees…Here’s Oaklea Trustee, Helen Starr

Meeting of committed minds

Getting all our Trustees & Board members together at once is always a logistical challenge – but of course the Annual General Meeting provides a perfect excuse! It was held at the R2W Appleby Hub.

A time to recognise what Trustees do

“We want people who have good common sense and can ask the big questions” Chris Harris, Oaklea Chair

Here’s Oaklea Trust Chair, Chris Harris – he knows what a critical role Trustees play…

Taskmaster Philip – he’s not just a ‘fox in the box’!

Meanwhile here’s Vice Chair of Trustees Philip Smith (MBE). Philip has a very long and impressive track record of working with community organisation’s – in fact he received an MBE for community work he did in Milton Keynes. Not only has he been a Non Exec Director at Leicester City FC (‘The Mighty Foxes’) – he’s currently a Trustee for Trinity Hospice, Blackpool, a Multi Academy Trust in Preston and is a former President of Lytham Rotary! Here he explains the role of a Trustee…not an easy task he says!

Turning over a new leaf – New face at the helm..

It was back to back meetings ay the Appleby Hub – before Oaklea sat down – Right2Work Board members met…and a key issue was to elevate Oaklea Trustee (and existing R2W Board member) Stephen Welch to the role of Chair (after previous Chair, Jane Sullivan, stepped down after several years as Chair). Here he tells us about what his new role involves…

Become a Trustee – make it your goal!

We asked Philip how on earth he finds the time to be a Trustee and be involved in so many projects – he simply said: “Busy people find the time.”
