The Carers Café will take place at Fremantle Court Care Home in Stoke Mandeville, part of The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), on the last Friday of every month, starting Friday 27 February, from 11:00am to 12:30pm.

The event has been inspired by the team at Fremantle Court, who recognised the importance of supporting people who care for their loved ones. Whether families are caring for someone at home or have a loved one living at Fremantle Court, the team want to create a relaxed and welcoming space where carers feel listened to, supported, and connected to others who understand their experiences.

The Carers Café is designed to bring carers, families, residents, and members of the local community together. Carers are warmly encouraged to bring their loved ones along, who will be supported to take part in a meaningful activity, while carers enjoy time to relax over a cup of tea and socialise with fellow carers.

Each month, the Carers Café will offer a different activity, with plans to introduce informative and supportive topics over time, including Admiral Nurse drop-ins, dementia care and wellbeing. The café also provides valuable ongoing support for families with loved ones living at the home, helping them build relationships with other families, residents, and the wider Fremantle Court community.

The Carers Café is free to attend. Guests are encouraged to let the home know if they plan to come along, but they are also very welcome to simply pop in on the day.

Deepthi Jose, Home Manager at Fremantle Court, said: “Caring for an older loved one can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming at times. Our Carers Café is a chance for people to take a breath, feel supported, and know they’re not alone. We’re really looking forward to welcoming carers, their loved ones, and our local community into the home to share conversation, connection, and meaningful moments together.”
