As you may be aware Music for Dementia 2020 and Live Music Now launched the Musical Care Taskforce last year. This group is made up of leading figures from across the music, dementia, health and social care sectors, who are working towards making music an essential element of dementia care.

A wide body of research has demonstrated significant benefits of music for people living with dementia, including reducing anxiety, depression and agitation, providing an alternative channel of communication and connecting people with those around them through shared musical moments.

The Musical Care Taskforce is due to reconvene on Friday 20th March in London, where a range of representatives from across the care sector, including individuals, care providers and organisations will be invited to sign up to a musical care pledge and share examples of how they plan to deliver musical care for people living with dementia in their respective roles. In return for which, they will become part of our Musical Care Movement & Network and will receive regular updates to help them find ways to develop and grow their musical care culture, with resources and advice.
