We are delighted to announce this year’s National Day of Arts in Care Homes #AICH2021 on the 24 September.
Care providers will be joining in by organising an event on the day and/or sharing stories about activities they have developed and delivered over the last year. There has continued to be a wealth of creative activities taking place during lockdown and we want to provide our community with an opportunity to share these positive stories involving residents, care provision and community partnerships. We are also inviting arts and cultural organisations to share how they have been working with care homes. See more here.
It would be wonderful if care providers join in, and support us on the day on Twitter. We want to continue to raise awareness of the importance of creative health in care settings and also how this has been of great significance during the Covid pandemic.
We will also be sharing the results of our Baring Foundation funded consultation on embedding culture and creativity in care homes. We hope this will be the start of a national conversation on what it would take to better support creative ageing in care settings. After this incredibly difficult period, we hope we can start to look forward towards a more hopeful future and one which includes access to creativity and culture in every care home.
