Global Innovations Project

Global Innovations Project

Technological innovations in social care are happening at a rapid pace across the globe. We want to be able to locate, capture and share this innovation, raising awareness of innovative practice amongst our members and peers in the sector.

This project provides the foundations for identifying and capturing this information and delivers early insight into innovations happening outside of the UK.

As a care provider, this project will help you to understand and develop your organisational approach to technological innovation. With the potential outcomes for highlighting technology as the key enabler for change, supplied by an evidence base for futureproofing digital innovations across the UK social care sector.

The Initial Project

Back in the summer of 2022, NCF commissioned a 4-week project to delve into the social models, drivers and incubators for technological innovations globally. This produced the following poster presentations on different countries’ technology focus alongside what the innovations are trying to solve within their social care system.

  • Japan – AgeTech in Eldercare: Combating Dementia and Loneliness through VR & Robotics in an Ageing Population
  • Finland – Eldercare Safety & Wellbeing: At the Forefront of Delivering Preventative Care Through Technological Solutions
  • China – Smart Eldercare Environments: Growing Care Demands Met with Technical Solutions
  • Turkey – Improving Outcomes for Autism Spectrum Disorders by Enhanced Learning Apps & User-Friendly Interfaces

In addition to this, presentations were created showcasing the socio-economic change as a result of technological innovations. These presentations highlighted a different operating model for health and social care.

  • Sweden’s Health Innovations
  • Global Innovations Supporting Mental Health

The core of NCF’s Global Innovations Project aims to impact the future of Digital Innovations in the UK through digital transformation supported by advanced technologies.

Since Then

Resource & Leads Database has been created and continually added to provide detailed developments within the project scope.

Technology & Innovation databases have been advanced to capture technology organisations through NCF connections/ Digital Innovation work.

A greater exploration into other countries’ adoption of Digital Innovations has taken place. The following video showcases Canada’s motivation behind cutting-edge technology and its implications within social care. We will continue to build on capturing innovative practices across the globe. Allowing for NCF to be at the heart of informing on social care Digital Transformation agenda and any new projects.

NCF has investigated funding models associated to the countries discussed within the scope of the project. Taking key insights into different levels of funding opportunities and the distinctive differences in how Governments work alongside Technology Organisations to build a stronger social care sector.
