Community organisations come together for a Dementia Awareness drop-in event at Trowbridge Library – Wednesday, 17 May, 10 – 2pm

A free dementia awareness drop-in event, organised by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT), Carers Support Wiltshire and Alzheimer’s Support Wiltshire, will take place on Wednesday 17 May at Trowbridge Library. The drop-in is open to anyone affected by, or with a loved one affected by, dementia, and provides an opportunity to meet representatives from organisations which offer support and advice around coping with dementia.

Dementia is a devastating condition and not only affects the person living with it, but those who love and care for the person as well. Understanding exactly what dementia is and how to support someone living with dementia can be confusing and overwhelming.

Tim Wright, Customer Relationship Manager at OSJCT Goodson Lodge said: “There are various sources of support available within our community. Knowing how to access this help, or to know what is out there can be challenging. Following a successful dementia awareness event in January, we have expanded the number of organisations attending May’s event. We look forward to showcasing what support is available to the community.”

The event is taking place during Dementia Awareness Week which runs from 15-21 May this year.
