Our teams of Nursing Care Assistants, Support Workers, Care and Support Workers, Seniors, Housekeepers, Catering Assistants, Porters and bank staff have all put in extra shifts and worked incredibly hard.  And as one of our Seniors told us, all the Nurses, Care Home Managers, Deputies have “kept the homes running as smoothly as possible”.

Helping each other as colleagues ensures we all keep each other’s spirits up – colleagues have baked cakes, made up bundles of goodies, home-made fudge and sweets for each other and supported each other in so lots of ways throughout the pandemic.   Kaila-Paige was due to marry her Fiancé in August, but like many plans this year they had to postpone their special day until next year.  Gabby, Clarissa and Helen organised a hamper and some spending money for a short break locally.

One colleague wrote to say: “Thanks to the whole team for supporting each other through a tough week and for keeping their spirits up and coming in with positivity every day.”

At one point during the pandemic, our Laundry Team had to pull out all the stops to maintain the supply of clean scrubs in all services when their 25kg machine broke down and took 48 hours to repair.  Some of our laundry colleagues started work at 3.30am and finished at 9pm to get all the laundry done.  The team is currently cleaning and processing 6.5 tonnes of laundry per week!

Julie Miles, Housekeeping Team Leader at Sandford Station told us about her team:

“They have been brave, strong and supportive during this difficult time.  They have all picked up extra duties and done it with a smile. We have all pulled together and are a fantastic team,  also the senior Housekeeping team who have tirelessly manned the delivery and collection of the scrubs ensuring everyone has what they need and making a collection point for all staff to come to at the start of their shift to have their temperature taken and collect their scrubs, this is a huge job and we now have it down to a fine art.”
