Building on the success of the online variety concert (The Best Seat in The House – YouTube), The Not Forgotten is now planning on delivering a concert tour specifically aimed at the WW2 veteran to, in part, compensate them for missing out on their special VE & VJ Day celebrations.
The Not Forgotten would like to identify care homes which have two or more WW2 veterans in them where they can deliver a concert (from the garden/car park) which the residents can view from a safe distance or from inside the Home. The artistes would not enter the care home but deliver the whole concert from outsidet – there would be no cross contamination. The concert party will have a gazebo to use in the event of wet weather so residents looking forward to the concert will not be disappointed. The concert, Those Not Forgotten Years, will be WW2 veteran focused but will include music up to the 60’s – something for everyone and to get the feet tapping.
The charity hopes to deliver around 56 concerts across the UK over the July to September timeframe.
If you have two or more WW2 veterans as residents, and would like to be considered for a concert at your home, please contact The Not Forgotten (rosie@thenotforgotten.org) and they will do their best to support you.
