The Care & Support Alliance have launched the Show Us You Care campaign which calls for supporters to invite their MPs to join them in Parliament on 3rd July.

According to our data, constituents have invited to you to our Show Us You Care event, but a problem with the platform means emails haven’t been reaching MPs. We’re writing to let you know that your constituents are worried about social care. Join us at this event to hear from with people with lived experience of adult social care, policy experts, and charity representatives from some of the 60 organisations in the Care and Support Alliance.
3.5 million people aren’t getting the care and support they need. That’s three and a half million people who are missing out on vital day-to-day support – help for older people with tasks like getting out of bed, washed and dressed; and for disabled adults of working age support to go out to work, volunteer or see friends. Many millions of unpaid carers in our country also lack opportunities to take breaks to recharge their batteries.
As an alliance we have warmly welcomed the Government’s decision to set up an independent commission into the future of social care, led by Baroness Casey and due to report by 2028. While she carries out her important work over the next three years however the Government has a continuing responsibility to sustain the existing social care system, one beset by many pressing problems, including staffing shortages and over-stretched budgets in local councils.
This means that as an MP you will play a crucial role over the next few years as regards social care: by engaging with Baroness Casey in her pursuit of political consensus about the longer term solutions, and by ensuring the Government understands the needs of your constituents who use or who need social care, so it does what it can and should do to help your constituents live fulfilling, properly supported lives in the meantime.
This is why we are inviting you to join us in Parliament on Thursday 3rd July at our Show Us You Care event. This event is an important opportunity to:
- Hear from people who live the reality of our social care system every day – the good, the bad and what needs to change and can change over the next three years.
- Understand the state of social care in your area, with access to/opportunity to sign up for tailored constituency data and support to help you connect with your local carers, care users, and services.
- Learn how we and our 60+ member organisations can help you to show leadership over the next three years by engaging with the Casey Commission, holding the Government to account and championing social care in Parliament.
As an MP you really matter to us, we want to work with you and we very much hope you can attend this event. It would show that you see us, that you hear us – and that you care about the millions of older people, disabled people and their carers who deserve decent social care.
