Last week NCF worked with Parkhaven Trust, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and ITV Granada on a news feature to highlight Parkhaven’s dementia care and use of technology to coincide with Dementia Action Week.

Nurse Gemma demonstrated the acoustic monitoring that is included in each room within the Beeches so staff can monitor any movement in the room and the resident’s breathing. The system means that staff can quickly react in the event of a fall or if the resident needs any comfort or reassurance.

To help illustrate how this technology, together with the circadian lighting that is used throughout the home, provides comfort for family members as well as residents, reporter Jennifer Buck interviewed Ian Hill while he visited his wife, Ann who has been a resident at Parkhaven for 7 months. Ian talked of the comfort he feels knowing that Ann’s wellbeing and safety is being monitored at all times.

NCF Communications Lead Victoria Garratt also contributed to the news story. Victoria talked about the wider application of technology in care and how NCF is supporting the care workforce to keep pace with that change through digital skills training programmes such as the Care Technologist.
