Care Home Hosts Inclusive Events To Celebrate Care Home Open Week 2023

To celebrate and mark this year’s Care Home Open Week, charity Friends of the Elderly’s residential care home The Lawn in Alton, Hampshire is hosting two events – an Open Evening on Friday 30th June and an Open Day on Saturday 1st July to give visitors, prospective residents and respite guests the opportunity to see and experience the expansive, varied range of activities and great facilities on offer at the care home.

The Lawn is one of nine care homes run by the not-for-profit charity Friends of the Elderly whose focus is to give older people in its care the chance to live well and fulfilled lives in later life.

Alina Gutu, the Registered Manager at The Lawn said: “Our two open events will be a wonderful opportunity for visitors, prospective clients and respite guests to see our care home, meet myself and my care team and explore all that we have on offer and deliver to our residents.

“Our tours will take in all of the care home where visitors will see how spacious and airy our rooms are and how our large dining room and two comfortable, cosy sitting rooms are always full of light. In fact, a resident’s family member recently left us a review saying that “The Lawn has a great reputation for being the best care home in the area and I am delighted that my Mum is there,” so it will be great for our visitors to see all that we have to offer.”

The Open Evening on Friday 30th June will begin at 5 p.m. with the Open Day on Saturday 1st July, starting at 1 p.m. The Open Evening will give visitors the chance to enjoy a tour of the care home, view artwork pieces made by the creative residents, take part in a range of inclusive activities – including the ever popular Bingo!, complete with prizes and meet the care team and residents at a cheese and wine tasting.

On Saturday 1st July, The Lawn care team will be on hand to show visitors around the care home and all its facilities – with a complimentary glass of Buck’s Fizz or a non-alcoholic alternative. Visitors will also be able to join in with a wide range of activities, sit back and relax to live entertainment performances – and there will also be a Bouncy Castle for children to enjoy.

“Supporting and celebrating Care Home Open Week 2023 and hosting our own Open Evening and Day gives The Lawn’s care team a great stage to be able to show visitors how the care team here is devoted to supporting those we care for,” added Alina. “At the heart of everything we do is our dedication to supporting our residents and respite residents to live well and fulfilled lives.”
