Brendoncare Froxfield

The Brendoncare Foundation is delighted to have received its first ‘outstanding’ CQC rating for its Wiltshire care home.

Brendoncare Froxfield provides nursing and dementia care for up to 44 people and has been specifically designed to enable older people to live independent, happy and fulfilling lives. Located in the village of Froxfield near Marlborough, it has all the convenience of a purpose-built home within attractive gardens and the wonderful Wiltshire countryside. The home is part of The Brendoncare Foundation, a registered charity based in Hampshire which runs 10 care homes across the South of England. Established by influential GP Ronald Gibson, Brendoncare has been caring for older people for over thirty years.

The CQC awarded Brendoncare Froxfield a rating of ‘outstanding’ in its December 2016 report following a two day, unannounced visit. It praised the staff and management of the home, saying “We observed staff developed extremely positive caring and compassionate relationships with people” and “People received a high standard of care because all staff were guided by an experienced and committed management team.”

Other areas which the CQC particularly commented on were a strong emphasis on supporting people to eat and drink well, excellent links with healthcare professionals, suitable levels of trained staff and compassionate end-of-life care.

Zoe McCallum, Brendoncare’s Chief Operating Officer, commented “We are immensely proud of the team at Froxfield. Their care, compassion and person-centred approach is truly outstanding and it is wonderful that this has been recognised in the CQC’s latest report. The strong management team at Froxfield has created an environment which is highly responsive to the views of residents, relatives and staff and where the safety and wellbeing of residents is the first priority at all times.”

The home is supported by a committed group of volunteers and a ‘League of Friends’.
