Care South, a leading provider of high quality residential and home care across the South of England, announces three Carer of the Year finalists as part of its annual Stars Awards ceremony which will take place on 13th July at AFC Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium.
The Stars Awards recognise and reward individuals and teams from across the company for their outstanding achievements and excellent care provision. They are an important event during which time is taken to celebrate care staff and thank them for their frontline duties and commitment to residents.
As the care industry celebrates National Carers Week, which takes place from 5th – 11th June, there was no better time to announce the three finalists and to recognise their outstanding achievements within the care industry. Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring and to recognise the contribution carers make to families and communities.
Linda Robinson, Care Assistant at Castle Dene, Barry White, Care Assistant at Fern Brook Lodge and Ioana Birzu, Night Care Assistant at Wickmeads were the three finalists from the ‘Carer of the Year’ category announced at the company’s online Stars Awards event. All 15 residential care homes and four Care South at Home offices hosted a party for all their staff to say thank you. The homes and offices joined a live online announcement to hear from Care South CEO, Simon Bird and other departmental heads who gave their personal thanks to those who had been shortlisted as finalists from each category across the group. The finalists will be attending the main Stars Awards event in July at AFC Bournemouth.
Linda Robinson was nominated by residents and family members for always being so welcoming and willing to go above and beyond her job role as a carer. Linda makes sure that every department is checked on and always offers support if needed to others. Linda has also come in on her days off to cover absence by helping in the kitchen as a kitchen assistant. Barry White was nominated for being a reliable team member. When there are extra hours available, Barry is always the first to offer to come in and do extra shifts for the home at short notice. He is hard working and really cares about the residents. Whatever is going on, Barry always has a smile and will cheer people up around him. Ioana Birzu, was nominated for always having a positive attitude to work, being reliable and always professional. She is a great example for any new starters and is always happy to shadow them to help. Ioana always puts Care South’s HEART Values into practice, which stand for Honesty, Excellence, Approach, Respect and Teamwork, and is a valued member of the team
Linda Robinson, Care Assistant at Castle Dene, said: “What an honour to be nominated as finalist in the Stars Awards this year. This is just a wonderful testament to something that I love doing day in and day out.”
