St Johns Court

St Johns Court is a 42 bedded nursing home in the heart of Bromsgrove, the home is one of 5 care homes belonging to Somerset Redstone Trust and is managed by Laura Wilkes.

We are overjoyed that St Johns Court has been recognised by CQC for their outstanding care, all the team have worked so hard over the last year with the residents, families and health professionals to make St John’s the place to be; we are the first home within Worcestershire to achieve outstanding.

Laura, and Faye Upton, deputy managers, have developed a values led team who are dedicated and passionate about their roles and ‘going the extra mile’ is just the norm.

The home has designated champions who lead and support the team in their specialist fields such as occupation & activities, dementia care, end of life, ensuring best practice is always promoted.

The home is currently working towards the Gold Standards Framework and piloting a pioneering programme Amaven, led by Tania Swift, Director of B Inspired, which promotes mobility in older people.

Acosia Nyanin, CQC’s head of inspection for the central region for adult social care said the team were ‘really impressed’ by the home’s level of care, adding: ‘there was a sense this was the people’s home and it was obvious residents were proud of where they lived’.

One of our residents told the inspector that ‘they could not think of a better place to be’.

We strongly believe that our residents and families are at the centre of everything we do and are heavily involved in any new ideas and changes that take place from recruiting staff to designing and creating the gardens.

Keren Wilkinson, Director of Operations said:

“This ‘outstanding’ rating is a tribute to the skill and commitment of everyone who works at St John’s Court and I am extremely proud of them. It also endorses our strong belief in the need to involve the people who live in our homes, and their relatives, in planning and reviewing the care and support they need. We are constantly looking for ways to do things even better and will continue to look to ways of making life even better for our residents.”
