Summary

         The      findings for 2012 cover a total of 55,622 staff (up 15% on 2011)

         40 organisations in the survey range in size from 17 to 6735 employees with 45% employing       more than 1000 workers, 32.5% 301-1000 workers and 22.5% less than 300 workers

         The average age of workers continues to rise with 45.6% of staff aged over 46 years (while the proportion of staff aged below 25 years continues to fall at 14.4%

         A new question on apprenticeship was added this year and we found that of 29 organisations who responded 18 were offering a total of 726 apprentice places.
