The Royal British Legion

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found the quality of care provided by Galanos House care home in Southam, Warwickshire to be Outstanding, following an inspection in September 2017.

Inspectors rated Galanos House, one of six Royal British Legion care homes, Outstanding for being effective, caring, well-led and responsive to people’s needs. Galanos House is exclusive to ex-Service people and their dependents and is a 60 bed Care home, with a specialist Dementia care wing called Poppy Lodge. A dedicated team of staff, including registered nurses, care staff and support staff provide 24-hour care.

As part of the inspection Galanos House was found to have ‘continued to develop and further strengthened a very caring approach and the effectiveness, responsiveness and leadership of the home. People continued to receive excellent care in a community where they felt valued and had a sense of belonging’.

The inspection also emphasised the unique approach staff take towards each resident in care by stating: ‘Staff treated each person as an individual and respected their life history and experiences. Staff knew about people and who and what was important to them and significant events in their lives. They focused on the uniqueness of each person rather than labelling them with a diagnosis or condition.’
