As a church and registered charity, The Salvation Army is one of the largest and most diverse providers of social services in the UK - demonstrating our Christian principles through social welfare provision.
A wide range of services for older people are run from many of the 800 church centres throughout the UK including day care programmes, luncheon clubs, drop in centres where hairdressing, chiropody, assisted baths are available and social clubs where people can have respite from isolation and loneliness. All these services aim to acknowledge and value older people and the contribution they make to life and society by offering facilities which support their independence.
Seventeen care homes provide 576 places for those who are no longer unable to live in their own homes. In common with many care home providers, many of our residents have dementia and several of the homes have dementia registration We aim to provide long term residential care in a secure, safe, loving and homely environment. Our staff aim to give quality care, providing physical, emotional and spiritual support for each resident whilst at the same time encouraging the residents to live as independent a life as possible.
Many people choose to live in a Salvation Army care home because they are active Christians and value the daily prayers, services and chaplaincy that are available. Others want to be cared for in an Christian environment. People of all faiths and none are welcome.
