NCF – What can it do for you?

Connectivity

NCF offers multiple opportunities for members to connect with each other, the wider health and care sector, and across national and international boundaries.  NCF works to increase the size of the membership to both strengthen and support the not for profit sector in the UK.

We do this by:

  • Managing thriving virtual and real time forums in the following areas: Practice and Quality, Human Resources, Marketing, Finance, Home Care and Small Care Providers. 
  • Expanding our direct work with CEO’s and Board members 
  • Connecting NCF with key central and local government decision makers, reinforcing the role of the not for profit sector 
  • Hosting affordable accessible conferences and events at venues across the UK, maximising opportunities to learn from each other, from leaders in the UK, and from international partners
  • Running regional events - where members connect around areas of common interest 
  • Expanding our international and UK wide links: bringing to members leading thinkers, ideas and opportunities from across the globe and showcasing the excellent work of NCF members to a broader audience
  • Growing the NCF membership: providing new opportunities to connect with members who share your values, and can contribute to a stronger voice for the not for profit care and support sector

Innovation

The not for profit sector has an established reputation for innovation. NCF will maintain the emphasis on identifying, promoting, and rolling out innovation between members, supporting the sector to succeed no matter what the challenge. 

We do this by:

  • Developing and sustaining partnership arrangements with key organisations, identifying and developing solutions for the future of social care
  • Running events to showcase regional, national and international innovation: providing members with opportunities to explore the potential to bring new ideas to their settings 
  • Showcase member’s innovations through our networks, providing opportunities for members to share their best practice in the UK and international settings
  • Contributing to the potential for innovation to influence policy development 
  • Promoting the roll out of innovation through a new chargeable service: NCF Consult – offering expert consultancy and support to members

Evidence

NCF consistently highlights the importance of evidence to demonstrate impact, supporting members to target and update their use of research and evidence to showcase the contribution and quality of the social care sector. NCF will identify and, where appropriate, collate evidence to influence policy makers.  

We do this by:

  • Maximising the involvement of members in gathering evidence about the social care sector
  • Benchmarking good practice through member surveys 
  • Connecting members with academic and research partners 
  • Providing resources and toolkits to support members to provide evidence of their work to current and future commissioners, people who use services and their relatives

Leadership

NCF offers tailored support to senior personnel, trustees, non-executive directors and registered managers in the not for profit sector, together with a focus on future leadership providing timely information, advice and guidance to support strategic engagement at local, regional and national level.

We do this by:

  • Providing specific forums for key leadership roles within the sector, including CEO and Governance
  • Developing role specific events to broaden leaders’ understanding, skills and connections
  • Identifying and promoting new and diverse leadership within the not for profit sector
  • Providing consultancy support through coaching and mentoring to strengthen the development of senior leaders
  • Keeping leaders updated through briefings and newsletters with the latest policy and strategic analysis to inform their decision making 
  • Facilitating national and international exchange to develop inspirational and aspirational leaders now and for the future

Growth

The not for profit sector has a critical and unique contribution to make to the provision of outstanding person centred care. NCF works to support growth in the not for profit health and social care sector to ensure that it expands its ability to make a valuable and timely contribution to the provision of regulated care and support. 

We do this by:

  • Working closely with CEOs, Boards and finance directors to identify potential models for growth and diversification
  • Developing partnership arrangements with experts to facilitate support for members
  • Providing chargeable consultancy support services to support members in considering the potential and delivery of growth strategies
